Welcome to Part 1 of #fleurdelisgoestocalifornia: Airplane Essentials!
Well, Fleur de Lis will no longer be in NYC in about 2 weeks time. Erick and I start in San Fran, will hit Highway 1 and make our way down to LA over 10 days. It is a trip of a life time (in my opinion anyways) but to get to “The Golden State” we must hop on an airplane. Now I have zero fear of flying, in fact I love it because it generally means I am going on vacation, but there are some downfalls to being on a plane for longer periods of time.
When flying the most important things I take into consideration are entertainment, cleanliness and most importantly hydration. Like most people my skin does NOT react well with the recycled air in planes. I am practically snake like because layers of skin peel off. TMI? Maybe, but it’s the honest truth. I will be wearing makeup on the plane because I am still self conscious about my skin. Although my acne has significantly cleared up I still have hyper pigmentation that I am insecure about, but I will be keeping it very light (there will be another post about my airplane makeup coming soon).
I bring a series out antibacterial products whenever I fly just for general cleanliness, but with the recent Ebola outbreak I am not taking any chances.
As for entertainment, I bring my iPad Mini to read and play games on (I’m currently reading Gillian Flynn’s ‘Dark Places’ which is amazing!), I’ll buy trashy magazines in the airport and I bring my Skull Candy earbuds to watch a movie or two on the plane.
The flight from JFK to SFO is about 6 hours, so I have come up with what are my ultimate travel necessities.
– Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM to hold everything, it is the best travel bag!
– Purell attached to the outside of my bag for easy access.
– MK wallet, because duh.
– Marc by Marc Jacobs case originally for the 13 inch MacBook Pro that I purchased to hold all my important documents; passport, itinerary, boarding pass along with my iPad, cell phone, earbuds, and a pen!
– Michael Kors iPad Mini sleeve.
– Skull Candy Bombshell earbuds.
– Purell wipes to wipe down all the surface areas I will be touching.
– Bandaids.
– Sunglasses for after the flight.
– Medium Sephora bag to hold all my products.
– 2 sample size fragrances.
– Hair ties, clip and bobby pins.
– Claritin.
– Advil.
– Dove deodorant.
– Visine for red, dry and tired eyes.
– EOS hand cream.
– Boscia blotting linens.
– Colgate Wisp’s.
– Sigma F10 powder brush.
– MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural powder.
– NYX Butter Lip Gloss.
– Smith’s Rose Bud Salve.
– Jouer Lip Tint Enhancer.
– Mini Tarte Cheek Stain.
– Shu Uemura Lash Curler.
– Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser.
– Nars The Multiple highlighter.
– Mini Makeup Forvever Mascara (I’ll be wearing clear mascara until just before I land).
– Ear Plugs.
– Urban Decay Deslick spray to refresh my skin throughout the flight.
– Dr.Brant XYY eye cream that I’ll apply on top of my tinted moisturizer for hydration.
– Neck pillow.
– and finally my favourite silk eye mask for some shut eye. Our flight is at 6 am, which means we have to leave the city for JFK at 3 am… Oy.
I know it seems like a lot, but I will use every single one of these items! I’m not saying this is what everyone needs when travelling by it’s a good bunch of items to pick and choose from to create your own ultimate travel necessities list.
